The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon (7-65)

Summary
In the beginning of the book it talks about a man who is tall and distinguished. Also it talks about how he was hurrying toward an ocean liner named the SS Vauban which was 511 foot ship with a destination of Rio de Janeiro. the tall distinguished man was 57 years of age and was taller then 6 feet.  It talks about his apperance and how he was still very recognisable in a suit because of his customary wild beard.  This mans name Percy Harrison Fawcett.  His name was known through out the world. He was one of the last people who traveled into the Amazon with barley more then a machete, compass, and a devine sense of purpose. In 1916 the Royal Geographical Society awarded him a Blessing of King George V for the maps he had made of South America.
It says that it was becoming the dry seasons and it was June of 1996 when a group of Brazilian Scientists along with some adventurers  went into the Jungle.  They went in looking for signs of Percy Fawcett, his son Jack and Raleigh Rimell, who vanished more then 70 years ago in 1925.  This trip was led by 42 year old Brazilian banker James Lynch. Fawcett's disappearance was a shock to the world. After a couple of months of not hearing from Fawcett was fine but once it became a year and then two people grew even more fascinated.

Reaction
My reaction to this was in a way shocked because just imagining this man and him being known world wide was just 'wow'. To think that he was this amazing person and then just vanished into thin air with his son Jack and Raleigh Rimell, just amazes me.
