Summary
In this section Macon finally asked out Halley. She even wrote down the time and date that he did. She was so happy that this happened. Halley told her mother that she was going to Scarlett's house for the night and than snuck from Scarlett's house to go to the party at Ginny's house. Ginny was a girl that they knew from over the summer. When they could not find Macon at the party they decided to leave. Halley thought that he had stood her up and then continued to say that she was not good enough for him and that he never really liked her. Scarlett then told her that she should not say that and that he would be lucky to have someone like her, and that he is missing out on a unique girl like her. The next day when they saw him she asked him if he was even at the party and if he stood her up. He said that he was in the attic and that she had stood him up. She told him that she was there and that she did not go in to the attic.

Reaction
When I read this quote I thought that most girls, at first, don't think that they are making mistakes. They think that they will be perfectly fine with raising a child but at the same time still being children themselves. They think that they will be ok and everything will work out but it sometimes does not work that way.

Someone Like You (3-66)
Summary
In this section there are two girls that are best friends. their names are Halley and Scarlett. It was the beginning of the summer and Scarlett called Halley, who was at Sisterhood camp, and told her that Michael Sherwood died. Micheal was Scarlett's boyfriend. Halley was the one who normally needed Scarlett but this time was different. When Halley called her mother, her mother did not want Halley to leave but she insisted that her mother come and get her. On the day of the funeral Halley went over to Scarlett's house and found Macon Faulkner in Scarlett's bed. When Halley asked Scarlett about it she just told Halley that he needed a place to stay. Also in this portion of the book it talks about the summer that Halley and Scarlett got jobs at a market at the registers. It talks about how Michael also got a job at the market too. He worked in produce and everyday at lunch he would get some kiwi's and eat them outside. he would pay for them at Scarlett's register and they just hit it off. it talks about how Scarlett started to spend less time with Halley because of this. When school started Halley's schedule was all messed up. and she had to go to the guidance office to fix it. It turns out that Macon was there too. Macon and Scarlett had a conversation about why Halley was there and how Macon thought that Halley was already in trouble. Toward the end of their conversation they realized that they had P.E. together and Halley then looked forward to third period everyday.

Reaction
When I read this line in the book I thought of most teachers and how if you show up for class late they normally ask for a note or a pass to make sure that you have not been skipping classes. I also realized that this is kind of showing that Macon can make passes because he has a gift of forging signatures. Macon is very good at getting out of trouble and this means that he is very good at persuading people to get them to think what he wants them to think. He calls it the Jedi mind trick.
